Instructions

  1. Prepare the tea light molds by cleaning them thoroughly with soap and water. Dry them completely before use. Wet residue can cause problems when the wax is hardening later on.
  2. Melt the wax using a double boiler or a saucepan and a heat-safe bowl. Heat the wax until it reaches the desired temperature.
  3. Add any color chips or dye to the melted wax. Stir until the color is evenly distributed. You can also add essential oils or fragrance oils at this point if you want scented candles.
  4. Attach the wick to the bottom of the tea light mold using a wick sticker or hot glue gun. Trim the wick to the desired length, leaving about 1/4 inch of the wick sticking out of the mold.
  5. Slowly pour the melted wax into the tea light mold until it’s full. You can use a glass pitcher or a metal funnel if you are worried about spilling hot wax.
  6. Let the wax cool and harden for at least an hour or until completely solid.
  7. Once the candles have cooled and hardened, remove them from the molds by gently tapping the molds or using a sharp knife to loosen the edges. You can also leave them in the molds to make portable candles.
