1. Nelson English Cnetre
NEC is one of our favorite schools to study English in New Zealand. The school is located in Nelson, the sunniest town and also close to the wildest spots on the South Island of New Zealand, such as the Abel Tasman National Park. If what you are looking for is a school with a family atmosphere, where everyone knows each other and where the teachers themselves will take you on extracurricular excursions, this is an option!
2. Rotorua English Language Academy
Rotorua English Language Academy is our recommendation if you are looking to discover the Maori culture. This school is located in Rotorua, a town that can be found in the interior of the North Island of New Zealand, about two hours from Auckland, in an area of amazing geothermal activity.
It is noticeable that teachers treat each student individually, adapting to their needs. They have courses for all levels of English and classes usually have between 10 and 15 students. No more!
3. Dominion English School
They say that Auckland time is similar to Sydney or Barcelona. Not bad, right? If you are more of an urban type and want to live in this small and quiet city while you study English and work, we recommend that you ask us for information about Dominion English School.
At Dominion you will find everything you need to make the leap with the language. They have been growing with the school since 1969! Its teachers are among the most qualified and are also specialists in the IELTS, TESOL, TECSOL exams and university entrance exams.
In addition, its facilities are modern and offer you all kinds of services: kitchen, computer room, piano, library… you won’t miss a thing! Another bonus is that if you need it, they can pick you up at the airport and show you their accommodation options.
4. Mount Maunganui Language Centre
Not only will Tauranga meet all your expectations, but the school is one of the most prestigious in New Zealand. With a Level 1 quality – just like the rest of the schools in this TOP 10 -, the MMLC school offers you the chance to take your English to another level while you enjoy the beaches of Tauranga.
5. Campbell Institute
Campbell is one of the few schools that offers the Demi Pair program, in which you can study English while living with a New Zealand family in exchange for helping them take care of their children by working as a nanny. Its study programs are very rigorous and encourage the student to be very autonomous. Also, if you are one of those undecided between Auckland and Wellington, Campbell has campuses in both cities, so why not try 3 months in each one?
6. Southern Lakes English College
Do you want to live among the most amazing mountains and lakes you’ve ever seen? Do you want to ski and improve your English? The Southern Lakes school, in Queenstown, offers you this possibility.
The academy is located in the center of the village, it is small and very cosy, with views of the lake and The Remarkables mountain range. In this population, learning English is “an excuse” to live one of the best experiences of your life. Queenstown is the town of adventure sports, multiculturalism and good vibes par excellence.
Name any sport and here you can put it into practice: canyoning, trekking, kayaking, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, trail running, skydiving, bungee jumping, rafting, water skiing… and the list goes on!
During the summer you can enjoy spring weather, without snow, where you can enjoy incredible nature. In winter (European summer) you can enjoy the ski season. The ski pass is super cheap for students!
